ABN, HINN, IMM and now MOON. A growing list of acronyms from the feds means one thing: even more patient notification forms to understand and use compliantly. If something goes wrong, get ready for an inquisition — “Was the appropriate form properly completed and delivered in the required manner?” Answer “no,” and the consequences for your hospital could be severe.
Dr. Ronald Hirsch will alleviate your “acronym anxiety” through this exclusive RACmonitor webcast. He’ll explain the latest requirements for preparation and delivery of CMS-mandated forms, including the Advance Beneficiary Notice (ABN), Hospital-Issued Notices of Noncoverage (HINNs), Important Message from Medicare (IMM) and the newest of the bunch, Medicare Outpatient Observation Notice (MOON). Dr. Hirsch also will clarify proper use of Condition Code (CC) 44 and CC W2 notifications. Through compliant completion and delivery of the various notifications, you can substantially reduce your risk of unwanted scrutiny.
It’s a fact: Most patients don’t read the pile of documents they’re asked to sign before and during their hospital stay. But what if they decide to appeal their discharge? Or they question a coverage decision? Suddenly, every detail of the applicable notices comes under the microscope — exposing your hospital to the potential for a fine or recoupment. With Dr. Hirsch’s guidance, you’ll take an important step toward compliantly selecting, completing and delivering the right forms…protecting your revenue and reputation.
