Comments continue to arrive regarding last week’s RACmonitor article about the Medicare Audit Improvement Act, introduced last Wednesday.
I am not surprised to see is that this was initiated in New York. Irrespective of your political affiliation, you have to admit that the state of New York is a consumer-oriented state, as evidenced by then OAG Andrew Cuomo’s action and subsequent settlement with United Healthcare over their out-of-network payment schemes. But just as occurred after the settlement, where payers found a way around having to abide by the settlement terms, I am suspicious that, with this much money at stake, the RAC’s will do the same.
